The Manjushree Orphanage, located in the Himalayas in Northeastern India's Tawang district, was founded in 1998 by the Buddhist monk Lama Thupten Phuntsok to house and care for disadvantaged and disabled children from all different castes, creeds and communities. His mission? “To inspire the young people to act with a good heart, to become leaders in their communities and to help bring peace to the world.”
Manjushree started with 17 children and has since grown to nearly 300! Integral to Lama's early vision, the orphanage provides the children with on-site schooling, preparing them for higher education at secondary schools in the area and colleges throughout India, along with so much love and support. They live and function like one big family, and their commitment to supporting each other on every level is truly inspiring.
Save the date: Thursday, May 23, 6pm, the Alo Grove store. 100% of proceeds from this event will benefit the Manjushree Orphanage.
